The History
He states that he visited Slab City and Salvation Mountain for the first time in 2012.
2012, he legally changed his name from Travis D Walton to TD Walton, finalized in 2013. In or about 2012/13, he landed himself a prize deal with Mr. Nayan Banerjee to lease a 2-acre piece of property in Canedo, CA?, so Mr. Walton could start his church. He made what appears to be a deposit and then never paid again. He started building various non-conforming structures including wood shanty's, a pyramid and gardens on the lot. After complaints were filed against the property owner, Mr. Banerjee, he legally evicted Walton on August 7, 2013. Mr. Banerjee also filed Harassment charges against him on August 28, 2013.
2013 A Film maker who produced a short film about Leonard was presenting his video at a SoCal church, Mr. Walton attended the screening. This filmmaker told us that Mr. Walton asked him if he wanted to join them and go rescue Leonard from the nursing home and take him for a long ride. He declined. The family said one of the reasons the nursing home locked everyone that was not a relitive out was because there was a rumer that someone was going to kidnap him. Ironic? Nope, fact.
2015, Mr. Walton was the subject of two restraining orders by citizens at the San Diego County Court. The details are unknown to the writer at this time, but his imagination spins with issues regarding harassment.
2016 The big visit. When Walton arrived at Slab City, he was told by a stranger that, "the mountain is being run by drug dealers and thieves". This stranger was another pathological lier who liked to make things up to get attention. Walton proceded to enter the mountain and immediately started a rant to docents that "the mountain had become a place of evil and God called him to take fix it." He was instructed that Salvation Mountain, Inc ran the site and he should speak to them. He continued to rant and was asked to leave.
2018 Meets Devin "Dev". married July 24, 2018. Found her sitting on a curb after being kicked out of another guys car. She came to know about the bible from Walton. She's as much a "nut" as he is. They were meant for each other, until they're not.
2020 Mr. Walton camped at Slab City a few times before he permanently moved there. Each time he visited, he set up his pyramid and claimed he was there to evangelize, but he hung around hitting on girls and smoking weed.
2021 He moved in and partnered with a Pastor Nick. Nick was a true man of God and had no idea what he had gotten himself into. Nick's idea was to evangelize and serve God, but Walton had a different goal. Mr. Walton and Pastor Nick were forced out of the slabs by threat of injury after he reportedly locked a girl in his box truck over night to "save" her, had a stole a 4-wheeler and had complaints from a large number of women living there. He left, but returned in 2021 with a what he believed was a better plan. Pastor Nick went on to travel the country carrying a cross from town to town to emulate Christ. Hear from Pastor Nick! The person he mentions is Walton. Walton went back to Oceanside to continue his homeless journey. Pastor Nick didn’t know what he was getting himself into when he thought he was partnering with another “man of God” to save souls in Slab City. Poor guy got himself kicked in the nuts by the nut.
Past Present Future Please watch this video he made to attempt to explain his mission.
2023, Walton and his wife Dev apparently had issues and she left the Slabs to her family home in Brawley. Walton showed up during family time and created a scene. The police were called and Walton was charged with Domestic Violence and his car was impounded. The car, he says he "found in the desert and was a gift from God, but in fact it was stolen property. Find these details at the Brawley Police Department.
