The following is an editorial view by the writer based upon twelve years of research and interviews with Salvation Mountain staff, Slab City elders and residents, Imperial County Staff, California Land Commission staff and Mr. Walton himself. There have also been a few news stories written about Mr. Walton and he has been kind enough to provide a few YouTube videos that have been extremely helpful and revealing as to his mental and neurological issues to consulting professionals.   

The Man   

Travis D Walton (Sagittarius) is 54 years old, born November 28, 1969. At the time of this writing, is a self-ordained "Pastor" who believes in a New Age philosophy that he has created. He uses pyramids symbolically and spiritually and uses a cannabis leaf as his church logo. He teaches the use of yoga and vegetarianism. His wife Devine mentioned the use of the book, "Dairin Smith Bible" and Mr. Walton has been seen carrying a "Holy Bible" in public but has never been seen opening it. He once said during a videotaped "bible study", were for 30-40 minutes he never opened the bible, that he "studied all the religions, but picked Christianity because it had the easiest path to get into heaven". Walton proclaims to his followers that, "God called me to change my name to "t", representing the cross. I am to be the next Jesus", he says. He claims to have been ordained in one of a few churches he has attended or pastored at, but further research has exposed that those churches have no knowledge of him in their records. After God calling him to change his name, he made his way to San Diego to hand at the beaches and with the yoga crowd but found another call of God. He stated at that time that, "God called him to start his New Eden Church". He found an open space and a willing landlord, but it was short lived since he appears to have made a down payment, but then never paid anymore and was evicted. It was at the time of this evection case, that he got the next calling from God. This time it was to go to Slab City and take over Salvation Mountain.   

No one can find very much about Mr. Walton prior to his legal name change, but we are still searching. The following history has been developed through conversations with Mr. Walton and by research conducted through online mediums and some of his own postings and videos. The following is known to be true.   

T D Walton Claims to be related to Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart. He states that he has a family trust fund he draws from. So far there is no indication of this relationship, but research found William R Walton, 87 years old from Makawao, is likely to be his father. He appears to have Siblings?  Troy and Courtney Walton living in Los Vegas, NV. He lived in 12 locations from 1993-present, mostly in California Los Angeles and a bunch in South Cali, in Los Vegas, NV and in Tacoma Washington. Then there is Laureen? Ex-wife, sister? He has a history with something called The Connection Center from 2005-2010 doing consulting to entrepreneurs and non-profits, but the business license was permanently revoked by the State of NV.  

His last known address as of this writing is 3260 Production Ave Oceanside, CA 92058, which is the Brother Beno's Center. The Center is a one stop outreach for the homeless: food, shelter, clothing, Jobs, etc. They will also allow homeless people to use their address while they are receiving services so they can get a job, open a bank account, get a driver's license, etc. Mr. Walton has no interest in that outreach but is using it as a legal mailing address to maintain his non-profit "church" in Slab City. 

He is paying people to guard his camp. Picked the cream of the crop people too. A reporter went to see him to interview him and he offered to ppay him to be his person media person and record his junk messages. Wanted him to wear a bodycam and go talk to people so he could see what they had to say about him.

Psychiatric Evaluation: Mr. Walton suffers from a personality disorder. He is a sociopath, with narcissistic tendencies. He suffers from a neurological disorder, possibly from a head injury. He's a pathological liar with obsessive compulsive tendencies. He has threatened to shoot trespassers to his "church", allowed his dog to bite people and wants to start a vigilantly style security patrol in the Slabs.
